Lead Analog Design Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Lead Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead analog IP architect and designer responsible for definition, transistor-level implementation, verification, and transfer to manufacturing for custom analog/power IC sub-systems. The role works on consumer and mobile electronics products and interfaces with systems, layout, verification, validation, test, and customer teams.
This position requires ownership of design schedules, cross-functional collaboration, and technical leadership within a high-volume product environment.
Experience Level
Senior - 5+ years of analog circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading design activities from architecture through production transfer and coordinating across engineering and customer teams.
- Architect and implement analog blocks, subsections, or IP with ownership from definition to manufacturing.
- Design, simulate, and analyze transistor-level circuits and block topologies; generate schematics and run CAD simulations.
- Lead silicon evaluation, verify results against technical objectives, and iterate designs as needed.
- Collaborate with physical/layout designers and manage post-layout parasitic extraction and verification.
- Coordinate with systems, verification, validation, test, and product engineering to enable successful production transfer.
- Interface with customers and field teams to review architectures, support designs, and resolve issues.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, help plan schedules, and monitor project progress.
- Participate in hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluation of engineering staff.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- Must-have: 5+ years of analog circuit design experience focused on custom ICs and IP.
- Must-have: Hands-on transistor-level implementation, topology selection, hand analysis, and schematic generation.
- Must-have: Strong experience with Cadence toolset and circuit simulators such as Spectre; familiarity with Monte Carlo and worst-case analysis.
- Must-have: Experience with post-layout parasitic extraction, top-level simulation, and verification of IC-level performance.
- Must-have: Ability to manage schedules, meet tight delivery targets, and produce high-quality, production-ready designs.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Simplis, MATLAB, AMS simulation flows, and system-level partitioning and architectural trade-off analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Prior direct customer interaction on technical reviews and architecture discussions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study (as stated in the posting).
