Job Title
Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Join Micron's DPG-IPDEV team to design and deliver analog and mixed-signal layout blocks and provide full-chip integration support for memory products. The role focuses on physical implementation, verification, and cross-team collaboration to meet project schedules for high-performance computing and AI-focused memory solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3–6 years of experience in analog/custom layout design for advanced CMOS processes.
Responsibilities
The engineer will create and verify layouts, support project delivery, and coordinate with global teams.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, custom-digital blocks and support full-chip integration.
- Perform physical verification checks (LVS/DRC/Antenna) and quality reviews; produce supporting documentation.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with required quality and constraints.
- Plan and estimate area/time, schedule tasks, and manage execution across multiple projects.
- Coordinate and present progress with global engineering teams to ensure layout project success.
Requirements
Essential tools, skills, and experience for the role. Education is listed separately below.
-
Must-have: Hands-on expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
-
Must-have: Proven experience creating layouts for critical analog blocks (examples: temperature sensor, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pump, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers).
-
Must-have: Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals (matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, device parasitics) and how layout impacts speed, capacitance, power, and area.
-
Must-have: Ability to interpret design constraints, implement high-quality layouts, and understand design hierarchy and memory-design architectures.
-
Must-have: Solid problem-solving skills in physical verification of custom layouts.
-
Nice-to-have: Multiple tape-out support experience and proactive use of AI-related tools to improve productivity.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics / VLSI Engineering.
