Job Title
Analog Layout Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Perform physical implementation and verification for analog IP used across Marvell products. Work in a small Central Engineering analog team to produce floorplans, layouts, and verified layout data that meet specifications and release schedules.
Collaborate with global design teams (Argentina, Singapore, U.S., Europe) on projects that range from a few months to ~18 months.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff) level. Years of experience not specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Implement analog/mixed-signal layouts using Cadence Virtuoso and related CAD tools, including detailed implementation-level layers beyond schematic.
- Run layout verification and simulations; iterate with designers to meet circuit and performance specifications.
- Manage the full layout development cycle: floorplanning, detailed layout, verification, delivery, and post-delivery support.
- Assume ownership of components ranging from cells to functional blocks, macros, interfaces, or entire chips.
- Provide status updates and present technical issues and solutions to global teams across time zones.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and technical reviews.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Solid understanding of electrical concepts and analog circuit behavior.
- Practical experience with layout CAD tools, specifically Cadence Virtuoso.
- Proven record delivering high-speed or precision analog circuits, preferably across multiple process nodes.
- Demonstrated ownership through the full layout development cycle and ability to coordinate with designers and verification teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for global collaboration and presentations.
- Ability to adapt to shifting project priorities and work across distributed teams.
- May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates may be subject to export license review.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with multiple process nodes and complex analog interfaces.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (undergraduate or graduate) or equivalent practical experience; the source notes this degree is the likely route to acquire the required fundamentals.
