Role Summary
The Layout Design Staff Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing complex layout structures for integrated circuits, ensuring compliance with design specifications and manufacturing requirements. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and managing layout projects.
Experience Level
Senior; Minimum of 6 years of relevant layout design experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing complex layout structures for integrated circuits.
- Collaborating with circuit designers, verification engineers, and project managers to optimize layout solutions.
- Utilizing industry-standard EDA tools for layout creation, verification, and optimization.
- Performing physical verification (DRC, LVS) and resolving issues.
- Managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices.
- Participating in design reviews and contributing to process improvements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proficiency with EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Custom Compiler).
- Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, DRC/LVS, and tapeout requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex layout issues and optimize for performance.
- Experience in communicating and collaborating across teams.
Education Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
