Job Title
Layout Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Lead physical layout design for advanced memory IP (SRAM, ROM, eDRAM) at the cell, array, and peripheral circuit levels. Work on a memory layout team in Da Nang delivering manufacturable, high-performance memory IP for customer tapeout.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires at least 5 years of hands-on memory layout experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include delivering correct, optimized memory layouts and enabling first-pass silicon success.
- Lead layout of SRAM/ROM/eDRAM at transistor, cell, array, and peripheral levels.
- Ensure compliance with foundry process design rules and memory-specific constraints; resolve DRC/LVS issues.
- Optimize layouts for area, performance, power, yield, and manufacturability.
- Perform RC extraction and parasitic analysis on dense arrays and iterate layouts to meet timing and signal-integrity targets.
- Debug reliability issues (EM, IR drop, soft errors) with cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with circuit designers, verification, and process engineers to reduce risk and accelerate tapeout.
- Mentor and train junior layout engineers; improve team practices and automation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for success in this role.
- Minimum ~5 years of hands-on custom layout experience with emphasis on memory structures (SRAM, ROM, eDRAM).
- Deep expertise in memory layout at transistor and cell level, including arrays, sense amps, decoders, and peripherals.
- Proficiency with layout and physical design tools such as Custom Compiler, Virtuoso, or IC Compiler.
- Strong working knowledge of foundry process design rules and DRC/LVS verification flows specific to memory.
- Experience with RC extraction, parasitic analysis, and iterating layouts to meet signal integrity and timing margins.
- Analytical problem-solving, collaboration with circuit/process teams, and experience mentoring junior engineers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication, Physics, or a related technical field (as stated). No explicit equivalency language provided.
