Job Title

Lab Manager - Hardware Engineering

Role Summary

Manage hardware engineering lab operations across NVIDIA design centers in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. Own multiple labs that support silicon bring-up, validation, rework, and logistics to ensure high lab uptime and on-time program deliverables.

This role leads technicians (including outsourced staff), manages capital and expense planning for lab equipment, enforces safety and security controls, and coordinates standards across sites. Role may require travel between Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune design centers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires around 8+ years' relevant experience with at least 3 years managing technical lab environments and multi-site teams.

Responsibilities

Operational ownership and planning for multiple hardware labs; ensure readiness for bring-up and validation activities.

  • Operate and lead multiple labs across varied product classes: silicon bring-up, validation, rework, and engineering experiments.
  • Manage and develop rework, reflow, and logistics technicians, including outsourced personnel, to self-manage day-to-day operations and procurement.
  • Forecast long-term lab needs (space, power, cooling, thermal, reflow capability, equipment) and own capital and expense plans to support roadmap growth and reconfiguration.
  • Collaborate with bring-up managers to scope incoming silicon programs and ensure infrastructure, procurement, budget, and staffing are in place for priority milestones.
  • Maintain EHS compliance and physical security controls; run reviews and maintain audit-ready discipline.
  • Manage equipment lifecycle: procurement, warranty, calibration, inventory, shipments, and import processes with auditable procedures.
  • Coordinate and standardize lab practices across global sites to propagate best practices and vendor frameworks.

Requirements

Must-have technical and managerial experience for running multi-site hardware labs.

  • 8+ years of experience in silicon/hardware lab setup, management, and maintenance.
  • 3+ years managing technical lab environments and leading teams across sites, including capital/expense planning and vendor/outsourced-worker management.
  • Hands-on experience with common lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DAQ, soldering/rework tools) and hardware assembly/teardown.
  • Familiarity with hardware bring-ups, computer systems, and debugging workflows.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams (software, validation, ASIC, hardware) and communicate across sites.
  • Experience owning inventory, logistics tracking, and auditable equipment processes.
  • Ability to plan capacity and forecast lab needs ahead of product roadmaps.
  • Strong focus on safety, security, and compliance in lab operations.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with CPU/SoC bring-up and validation.
  • Multi-site/global lab coordination and standardization experience.
  • Familiarity using AI productivity tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) to improve operational workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
