Junior Engineer, FPGA
NIKSUNJob Title
Junior Engineer, FPGA
Role Summary
Develop FPGA-accelerated logic and integrate proprietary and third-party IP for network forensics, security surveillance, and performance products. Work includes front-end integration (MAC, PCIe, peripherals), memory and DMA interfaces, testbench development, timing closure, and producing IP documentation. This is an onsite role in Princeton, NJ.
Experience Level
Entry-level - 0–1 years of industry experience; suitable for recent graduates or engineers with limited professional FPGA experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and implement accelerated logic targeting FPGAs.
- Integrate proprietary and third-party FPGA IP (MACs, PCIe, peripherals).
- Implement and validate DDR4/HBM memory interfaces.
- Develop and verify high-speed DMA transfers over PCIe.
- Develop and maintain simulation testbenches for new and existing IP.
- Perform board bring-up and deploy designs on Xilinx FPGA boards.
- Troubleshoot timing issues and create timing‑clean FPGA images.
- Design and verify multi-clock-domain, synchronous and asynchronous logic.
- Create and maintain IP datasheets and technical documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proficient in Verilog, VHDL, and/or SystemVerilog; ability to read and modify HDL code.
- Experience with FPGA front-end integration: MAC, PCIe, and peripheral devices.
- Hands-on experience with DDR4 or HBM memory interfaces.
- Experience with high-speed DMA implementation over PCIe.
- Testbench development and simulation-based verification experience.
- Experience targeting/retargeting designs to FPGA development boards, preferably Xilinx.
- Ability to perform timing closure, debugging, and multi-clock-domain synchronization.
- Ability to write technical documentation and IP datasheets.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with high-level synthesis (HLS) and C-based FPGA design.
- Prior industry experience in FPGA acceleration for networking or security products.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. The posting also specifies 0–1 years of Verilog and/or C-based FPGA design experience.
