NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Junior Digital Design Engineer - MCU
Role Summary
Join a new MCU digital-design team in Catania building microcontrollers for NXP's Industrial & IoT Edge products. The role focuses on RTL development, synthesis, verification and integration with analog, mixed-signal and software teams to deliver production-quality SoC components.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Junior. The posting identifies this as a junior role; no specific years-of-experience requirement stated.
Responsibilities
Design and verify digital blocks for SoC MCUs and contribute to integration and post-silicon validation.
- Develop RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for digital sub-circuits according to specifications; support synthesis and static timing analysis (STA).
- Contribute to design-for-testability (DFT) implementation and verification; debug silicon and pre-silicon issues.
- Perform comprehensive verification using simulation, formal methods, and hardware emulation.
- Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal, and software teams to define interfaces and optimize system performance.
- Participate in post-silicon validation and debugging activities to resolve hardware issues.
- Produce design documentation: specifications, test plans, and design-review materials.
- Follow team design methodologies and schedules to meet quality targets.
Requirements
Core technical skills and professional behaviors required. Education is listed separately below.
- Proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design and verification. (Must-have)
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for RTL coding, synthesis, STA and formal verification. (Must-have)
- Understanding of digital design principles, clock-domain crossing (CDC) issues, power integrity, and low-power design techniques. (Must-have)
- Familiarity with DFT concepts and practical verification/implementation. (Must-have)
- Scripting experience for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl) to improve design flows. (Must-have)
- Practical debugging skills for pre- and post-silicon validation. (Must-have)
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, effective communication and teamwork; ability to take initiative and lead technical discussions. (Must-have)
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
