Job Title

Junior Digital Design/DfT Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Mixed Signal IP team in Caen to develop digital and mixed digital-analog integrated circuits for IoT and automotive markets. The role focuses on implementing and verifying digital IP blocks and ensuring their integration into complex product architectures.

The position includes RTL design and verification, documentation, and collaboration with analog and embedded software teams to deliver production-ready IP.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include design, verification, and documentation of digital IP and participation in team technical activities.

  • Design RTL modules using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Perform RTL and netlist simulations; use code coverage tools.
  • Optimize logic (pipelining, re-timing) and assess code quality.
  • Estimate power/consumption at RTL and netlist stages.
  • Analyze synchronization issues and calculate MTBF for metastability.
  • Co-simulate RTL with low-level embedded software and develop low-level C when required.
  • Write clear design documentation and user-level manuals.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate IP into product architectures.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools, and attributes for the role.

  • 0–2 years experience in digital design or similar roles.
  • Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog for RTL design.
  • Experience with RTL and netlist simulation and coverage measurement.
  • Familiarity with code optimization techniques (pipeline, re-timing) and code-quality checks.
  • Knowledge of synchronization techniques and metastability analysis.
  • Comfortable in a Unix environment and able to use scripting languages (Perl, Python).
  • Experience with basic embedded C for low-level software on RISC processors.
  • Good written and spoken technical English; able to work independently and in a team.
  • Curiosity about system-level interactions (analog, digital, embedded SW) and interest in DSP mathematics and digital implementation of algorithms.
