Job Title

Junior Design Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Physical Design team responsible for analog and mixed-signal (AMS) layout for ultra-high-speed circuits used in optical engines. Works on floorplanning, power planning, placement, and custom routing for sensitive high-speed blocks and participates in block- and top-level integration.

The role focuses on implementation for advanced SOI and FinFET technologies, addressing physical design issues such as IR, EM, crosstalk, ESD, and latchup, and collaborating with front-end designers to optimize physical designs.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 7 years of related work experience (posting title indicates 'Junior' but the required experience level is senior).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include physical implementation and integration of AMS circuits and ensuring manufacturable, high-performance layouts.

  • Perform physical implementation of analog and mixed-signal blocks (floorplanning, power planning, placement, custom routing).
  • Handle layout for ultra-high-speed sensitive signals and blocks with strict timing and signal-integrity constraints.
  • Apply advanced flows and checks to identify and fix IR, EM, and crosstalk issues.
  • Address ESD and latchup constraints and compliance requirements.
  • Manage block-level and top-level integration and coordinate chip releases.
  • Collaborate with front-end design teams to optimize physical design and participate in design reviews and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and deliverables, plus useful additional skills.

  • Must-have: Minimum 7 years related experience delivering AMS blocks for production silicon.
  • Must-have: Strong industrial experience in analog/mixed-signal CMOS layout and ownership of chip releases/top-level deliverables.
  • Must-have: Experience with layout of TX, drivers, RX, TIAs, and PLLs.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SOI, FinFET process technologies or BiCMOS.
  • Nice-to-have: Scripting skills (TCL, SKILL, PERL, SVRF) for automation and methodology work.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
