Junior CPU Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join a CPU core verification team to develop and validate next-generation Intel CPU designs. The role focuses on pre-silicon functional verification, simulation, debug, and improving verification infrastructure.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Targeted at recent graduates or engineers with minimal industry experience; guidance: at least 3+ months of relevant educational or work experience in verification-related tasks.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include verification activities across the CPU microarchitecture life cycle.
- Perform functional verification of CPU logic against specifications.
- Develop verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments aligned with microarchitecture requirements.
- Execute verification plans and run system- and RTL-level simulations to validate functionality and characterize performance.
- Debug pre-silicon failures: reproduce issues, identify root causes, and coordinate fixes with design teams.
- Improve verification tools, automation, and infrastructure to increase productivity and coverage.
- Document test plans, results, and technical findings; participate in design and architecture reviews.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience to be initially considered; preferred items follow.
Must-have:
- 3+ months of relevant educational or work experience in digital logic design and computer architecture (projects, classes, internships, or work).
- 3+ months experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, or Tcl).
- 3+ months experience with C++ and SystemVerilog.
- Experience running simulations and using verification environments; ability to debug RTL and presilicon issues.
- Clear verbal and written communication and ability to collaborate across teams.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Experience with RTL development and debug.
- Familiarity with x86 or other CPU architectures and assembly language (ASM).
- Experience with version control (GIT) and Synopsys simulators.
- Exposure to AI agents in software projects or coursework.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
