IP Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Senior ASIC/IP verification role on the front-end design and integration team. Work with architects, IP designers, physical design, firmware, and product engineers to verify PCIe/CXL-based IP and support first-pass silicon success.

Based in San Jose, CA. Candidates in San Diego, CA; Austin, TX; or Longmont, CO may be considered for more senior applicants. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Primary verification responsibilities for complex IP and sub-system blocks.

  • Collaborate with architects, hardware, firmware, and product teams to define verification scope for PCIe/CXL-based IP.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans that account for interactions with hardware, firmware, and software drivers.
  • Implement IP/SS-level UVM testbenches and verification components (monitors, scoreboards, checkers).
  • Create directed and constrained-random tests; run regressions and analyze failures.
  • Debug functional and performance issues and drive fixes to ensure design quality and silicon readiness.
  • Automate verification flows and maintain CI/regression environments.

Requirements

Must-have skills and technologies followed by useful additions.

  • Must-have: Experience with PCIe or CXL or NVMe or Ethernet protocols (stated as required).
  • Must-have: Proficient in IP-level ASIC verification and UVM-based verification frameworks.
  • Must-have: Strong Verilog and SystemVerilog skills; object-oriented programming experience.
  • Must-have: Scripting and automation experience (Python and/or Perl) to support verification flows.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging, communication, and cross-site collaboration skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Leadership or mentorship experience, experience across ASIC/FPGA lifecycle from planning to tape-out.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to simulation profiling/acceleration, HLS tools, or generative AI for testbench/test generation or optimization.
