Job Title
IP Post-Silicon Validation Lead
Role Summary
Lead planning, execution, and debug of post-silicon validation for multiple IP blocks within AMD SoC programs (APU, CPU, Compute and Discrete Graphics).
Join the NBIO team to define validation strategy, align firmware/BIOS/software, drive cross-functional technical resolution, and improve validation tools and methodologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Lead). No explicit years of experience stated.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include driving IP validation across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, coordinating with architects and software teams, and improving validation capabilities.
- Define, document, execute, and report functional test plans and end-to-end validation strategies for assigned IPs.
- Plan and perform post-silicon bring-up, system validation, and production debug.
- Ensure firmware, BIOS, and software alignment to enable features and optimize performance and power.
- Drive pre-silicon "shift-left" activities with design verification, emulation, diagnostics, and modeling teams.
- Lead cross-functional technical discussions to identify risks and implement architectural or procedural solutions.
- Develop and drive tools, scripts, and automation to improve validation throughput and debug efficiency.
- Support customer platform issues and collaborate with customer engineering teams as required.
- Mentor and guide engineers and contribute to team technical development.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and traits. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Extensive experience in post-silicon validation and ASIC debug methodologies.
- Strong foundation in system and SoC architecture (CPU/GPU, memory subsystem, fabrics, high-speed I/O, clocks/resets, virtualization, security).
- Experience with digital logic design and verification.
- Board/platform-level debug experience including power/clock delivery and sequencing.
- Proficiency with scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Ruby).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment: logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-team collaboration skills; leadership and mentoring experience.
- Self-starter able to independently drive tasks to completion.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
