IP Library Circuit Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
IP Library Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver analog/digital IP blocks and library circuits for ASIC/SoC products. Work on architecture, circuit/spec development, implementation, verification and documentation while collaborating with cross-functional hardware, software, product and program teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have ~2+ years of relevant ASIC/IP or circuit design experience; role expects the ability to work independently and mentor others.
Responsibilities
Deliver IP and block-level designs and support their integration into SoC flows.
- Define, model and implement digital and/or analog IP and library circuits.
- Develop circuit specifications, logic designs and system simulations.
- Analyze and optimize full design flows (RTL-to-GDS or custom circuit flow) for timing, power and verification.
- Use EDA tools to perform design, verification and implementation tasks.
- Write and review technical documentation for ASIC/IP projects.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, product and program management teams to drive execution.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Experience with ASIC/IP block design and verification.
- Familiarity with EDA tool flows (examples: Virtuoso, RTL-to-GDS flows) and custom/standard-cell methodologies.
- Practical experience optimizing timing, power and verification strategies across RTL-to-GDS and/or custom flows.
- Ability to develop circuit specifications, perform system simulations, and validate designs.
- Strong documentation, problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
- Comfort working independently on ambiguous problems and influencing technical decisions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Science, Engineering or a related field. Preferred fields include Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science. (Degrees explicitly listed in the source.)
