Job Title

IP Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for functional verification of IP logic used in Intel silicon. The role develops and executes verification plans, builds testbenches and simulation environments, debugs presilicon failures, and collaborates with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to ensure designs meet microarchitecture and protocol specifications.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements) but candidates are expected to have multiple years of professional verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities and supporting debug and integration.

  • Perform functional verification of IP logic to confirm designs meet specifications.
  • Develop and execute verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments.
  • Define and run system-level simulations to verify functionality, analyze power and timing, and find bugs.
  • Replicate, root-cause, and debug issues in presilicon environments and implement fixes.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to verify complex microarchitectural features.
  • Document test plans and lead technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Maintain and improve verification infrastructure and methodologies.
  • Participate in defining verification infrastructure and tools required for functional verification.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and relevant experience.

  • Strong scripting/coding skills in Perl or Python.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM/OVM verification methodology.
  • Hands-on experience with AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB).
  • Proven ability to design and implement verification test environments and testbenches.
  • Experience with system simulation models and presilicon debug workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate across architecture, RTL, and physical design teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience bringing up protocols from design inception through implementation.
  • Knowledge of Network-on-Chip verification methodologies.
  • Familiarity with formal verification techniques.
  • Exposure to power-aware verification and PCIe protocol verification.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is specified. Experience guidance in the posting: 6+ years professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, 4+ years with a Master's degree, or 2+ years with a PhD.
