Job Title

IP Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

The IP Design Verification Engineer is responsible for functional verification of IP logic and verification infrastructure to ensure designs meet microarchitecture and specification requirements. This role works with RTL developers, architects, and physical design teams to validate IP pre-silicon and improve verification methodologies.

This position is part of Intel's Central Engineering Group and supports hybrid on-site/off-site work in Bangalore.

Experience Level

Level: Senior. Experience guidance: 6+ years with a Bachelor's degree; 4+ years with a Master's degree; 2+ years with a PhD.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include verification planning, test development, debugging, and collaboration across design teams.

  • Perform functional verification of IP logic to confirm designs meet specifications.
  • Develop and execute IP verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments.
  • Define and run system simulations to verify functionality and analyze power and timing.
  • Replicate, root cause, and debug presilicon issues; implement corrective measures for failing tests.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams on complex architectural features.
  • Document test plans and lead technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Maintain and improve verification infrastructure, methodologies, and related TFMs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Strong scripting/coding skills in Perl or Python.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM/OVM-based verification methodology.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB).
  • Must-have: Proven ability to design and implement verification test environments and debug presilicon failures.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with bringing up coherent protocols from inception to implementation.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Network-on-Chip verification methodologies and formal verification techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to power-aware verification and PCIe protocols.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving and cross-team communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is specified. Experience-based equivalence is provided: 6+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 4+ years with a Master's; 2+ years with a PhD.
