IP Design Lead Engineer
Role Summary
Lead IP/SoC RTL design and integration efforts for complex ASIC/SoC projects. Work within the hardware engineering team to define micro-architecture, implement RTL, and ensure design meets timing, power, and functional requirements.
Experience Level
Senior / Lead level. This position expects multiple years of relevant ASIC/SoC design experience; see Education Requirements for formal degree and minimum experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, integration, and collaboration across SoC teams.
- Design and micro-architect IP blocks; implement RTL (Verilog / SystemVerilog).
- Integrate IP into SoC, collaborate with floorplanning and pad-ring teams.
- Develop constraints and drive timing closure for ASIC flows.
- Implement and verify multi-clock and asynchronous interfaces.
- Collaborate with verification and validation teams for pre- and post-silicon debug.
- Apply low-power design techniques and coordinate with power teams.
- Work with synthesis and timing tools to meet performance and area goals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and hands-on experience.
- Strong experience in logic design, micro-architecture, and RTL coding.
- Proven SoC design and integration experience.
- Proficient in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB) and SoC clocking/reset/debug architectures.
- Hands-on experience with constraint development, timing closure, synthesis, and timing concepts for ASIC flows.
- Experience with multi-clock domain designs and asynchronous interfaces.
- Experience using ASIC development tools such as Lint, CDC analysis tools, Synopsys Design Compiler, and PrimeTime.
- Experience working with SoC verification/validation and conducting pre/post-silicon debug.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with peripherals (USB, PCIe, SDCC), memory controller designs, pad ring and chip-level floorplanning experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in a related field with 2+ years' experience; OR PhD in a related field with 1+ year of experience.
