IP Design Engineering Intern — Design Verification (Fall 2026)

Role Summary

Internship within the IP Design Engineering group focused on design verification for RISC-V architecture processors and cores. The role supports verification activities, test development, coverage closure, and methodology/flow improvements.

The internship provides mentorship, hands-on verification assignments, and exposure to industry-standard verification tools and flows.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Internship. Candidates should be at least a sophomore in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program and able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the internship.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve verification of processor/core IP and development of verification flows and test infrastructure.

  • Perform design verification tasks for RISC-V architecture processors/cores.
  • Review design documents and RISC-V standard specifications.
  • Create test plans and tests, debug test cases, and drive coverage closure.
  • Develop models, flows, and verification methodologies.
  • Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and perform work safely.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, work expectations, and communication capabilities for the internship.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills (English).
  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of assembly programming.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and languages quickly.
  • Availability to work at least 20 hours per week during the internship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in verification, architecture, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership in projects, competitions, or teams.
  • Project management skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity.

Education Requirements

At least a sophomore-level student actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field from an accredited program. Curriculum should include computer architecture and VLSI design topics. Overall GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
