Job Title

Principal SoC Verification

Role Summary

Lead the architecture and implementation of functional verification environments for advanced multi-core SoCs, including verification methodology, reference models, and verification tools. This role helps establish Marvell's San Diego design verification organization and supports custom AI/XPU and XPU‑attach SoC programs.

Join the Custom Compute Solutions Business Unit (CCSBU) San Diego team to partner with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality customer silicon and shape the verification culture and processes.

Experience Level

Senior-level — typically 10–15+ years of verification and firmware/software development experience with a BS; 5–10+ years with an MS/PhD.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design verification environment architecture: reference models, bus-functional monitors/drivers, and overall methodology.
  • Write verification test plans using random techniques and coverage analysis; ensure test plan completeness with designers.
  • Develop verification tests, tune environments to meet coverage goals, debug failures, and collaborate with designers to resolve issues.
  • Verify boot code and develop/maintain software tools to streamline scalable, parallel multi-core SoC design.
  • Translate engineering requirements into usable, scalable software tools and automation.
  • Perform unit and regression testing of verification infrastructure and tools.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Strong SoC verification and testbench development experience with UVM, SystemVerilog, C/C++, and DPI.
  • Deep understanding of verification methodology: object-oriented techniques, white-box/black-box testing, directed/random testing, and coverage-driven verification.
  • Experience with gate-level simulations, data structures, and debugging complex hardware/software interactions.
  • Experience developing and maintaining verification tools and automation for multi-core environments.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills; strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with 10–15+ years of relevant verification and software/firmware experience; or a Master's or PhD with 5–10+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
