IO and Mixed Signal Layout Design Engineer
BroadcomJob Title
IO and Mixed Signal Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify full-custom I/O libraries and analog mixed-signal IP layouts in planar and FinFET processes. Lead floor-planning and placement/routing decisions to meet performance and manufacturability targets.
Own end-to-end layout deliverables, validate compliance through verification flows, and collaborate with circuit designers and cross-site teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires practical experience (3+ years) in I/O and analog mixed-signal layout design.
Responsibilities
The engineer will deliver production-quality layouts and verification for I/O and analog mixed-signal IPs. Key responsibilities include:
- Design full-custom layouts for I/O libraries and analog mixed-signal IP in planar and FinFET technologies.
- Drive floor-planning, placement, and routing decisions to meet functional and performance targets.
- Perform comprehensive layout verification and debugging (DRC/LVS/ANT/ERC/DFM and related checks).
- Ensure deliverables meet quality and schedule requirements; take ownership from concept to tape-out-ready layout.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with circuit designers and distributed engineering teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience in I/O library and analog mixed-signal IP development and verification.
- Solid understanding of planar and FinFET layout techniques and process technology.
- In-depth knowledge of ESD and latch-up principles for I/O and analog layouts.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso layout suite and Siemens CALIBRE verification tools.
- Expertise in layout verification and debugging: DRC, LVS, ANT, ERC, DFM; familiarity with LPE, PERC, EM, IR analysis.
- Familiarity with physical-design flows including LEF generation and PnR handoff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Nice-to-have: experience with AI/automation for layout, scripting, and SKILL programming.
Education Requirements
B.Tech in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is required; role expects approximately 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
