Job Title
Internship - Analog Mixed-Signal Design
Role Summary
This internship supports the analog and mixed-signal IC design team. The intern will contribute to circuit design, simulation, lab characterization, and automation of design workflows under senior engineer supervision.
Work focuses on operational amplifiers, low-power regulators (LDOs, Buck converters), silicon debug, and scripting to streamline verification and data analysis.
Experience Level
Entry-level (internship). Targeted at current graduate students; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on support for analog/mixed-signal design and validation:
- Contribute to design, simulation, and verification of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
- Apply operational amplifier theory, perform stability analysis, and implement compensation techniques.
- Design and optimize low-power circuits (LDOs, Buck converters) for energy efficiency.
- Perform silicon characterization and lab-based debugging to verify performance versus specifications.
- Develop and apply scripts (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell) to automate workflows and data analysis.
- Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and collaborative debugging sessions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful contribution:
- Proficiency in analog IC design principles including amplifier design and low-power techniques.
- Practical experience with circuit simulation and verification tools (industry-standard EDA tools implied).
- Ability to write and use scripts for automation and data processing (Python preferred; Perl, TCL, Shell also useful).
- Experience with lab measurement equipment and methods for silicon characterization and debug.
- Strong communication skills, eagerness to learn, and ability to work in a team environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior hands-on projects involving LDOs, switching regulators, or mixed-signal blocks.
- Exposure to workflow automation in analog design environments.
Education Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in an M.S. program in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (Analog/Mixed-Signal focus). Equivalent academic preparation in related technical fields may be considered.
