Internal Acceleration, Special Projects
Role Summary
Work on Etched's Internal Acceleration team to build agentic tooling and operating systems that speed up hardware and product development. You'll embed with engineering teams (kernels, ASIC, hardware, production) and work directly with founders to deliver high-impact internal tools.
Success is measured by deployed impact and adoption: shipping internal products, automations, and agents that materially increase engineering velocity.
Experience Level
Mid-level (1–5+ years building and shipping software). Candidates should be comfortable owning end-to-end product work at a fast pace.
Responsibilities
You will identify engineering bottlenecks, design agentic solutions, and ship internal tools from concept to production.
- Embed with kernels, ASIC, hardware, and production teams to find and own high-leverage problems.
- Design, build, and deploy LLM agents integrated into engineering workflows (tool-calling, MCP integrations).
- Ship full-stack internal products: interfaces, data pipelines, and supporting infrastructure.
- Design evaluations, measure adoption, and iterate on tools based on impact metrics.
- Execute special projects with founders to hit critical milestones and unblock teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 1–5+ years building and shipping software end-to-end, ideally in a fast-moving startup.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills and product ownership.
- Hands-on experience building LLM agents or AI tooling used by real users (context engineering, tool integration, evals, failure analysis).
- Ability to use AI tools to learn quickly and apply agentic workflows to engineering problems.
- Product sense, design taste, and strong attention to detail.
- High agency: proactively find the real problems and drive solutions to production.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to chip development, kernels, hardware, or manufacturing.
- Infrastructure, data engineering, or DevOps experience.
- Experience with fine-tuning, RAG over proprietary technical data, or multi-agent orchestration.
- Startup experience, especially through hypergrowth.
