Job Title

Internal Acceleration Engineer (Hardware)

Role Summary

The Internal Acceleration team builds agentic tools and operating systems that speed the production of frontier tokens and accelerate hardware development. You will work directly with founders and embed with kernels, ASIC, hardware, production, and special-project teams to deliver engineer-facing automation and internal products.

Success is measured by how much faster teams move; this is a high-ambiguity, high-impact, in-person role based in San Jose (Santana Row).

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests roughly 1–5+ years of experience building and shipping software end-to-end.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include embedding with engineering teams, designing agentic workflows, and shipping internal tools that engineers rely on.

  • Embed with kernels, ASIC, hardware, and production teams to identify high-leverage bottlenecks and own solutions end-to-end.
  • Design, build, and deploy LLM agents integrated into engineering workflows using tool-calling and system integrations.
  • Ship full-stack internal products: interfaces, data pipelines, and infrastructure from zero to one.
  • Design evaluations, measure adoption, and iterate to prioritize effective tools and retire ineffective ones.
  • Lead special projects with founders to hit time-sensitive, business-critical milestones.

Requirements

Concise list of required and preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: 1–5+ years building and shipping software end-to-end, with strong full-stack engineering skills.
  • Must-have: Practical experience building LLM agents or AI tooling beyond simple API calls (context engineering, tool integration, evals, failure analysis).
  • Must-have: Ability to use AI tools to rapidly learn new domains and strong product sense with attention to detail.
  • Must-have: High agency and ownership; able to find root problems and drive solutions.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to chip development, kernels, hardware, manufacturing, or infrastructure/data engineering/DevOps.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with fine-tuning, RAG on proprietary technical data, multi-agent orchestration, or startup hypergrowth environments.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
