Internal Acceleration Engineer (ASIC)
EtchedJob Title
Internal Acceleration Engineer (ASIC)
Role Summary
Work with founders and the ASIC engineering team to build agentic harnesses and internal systems that accelerate hardware production and engineering workflows. Own problems end-to-end, from identifying bottlenecks to delivering tools that engineers rely on.
This is an in-person role based in San Jose focused on rapid, high-impact delivery; the team prioritizes speed, product sense, and operational ownership.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically 1β5 years of experience building and shipping software end-to-end; startup experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Embed with the ASIC team to locate high-leverage bottlenecks and own solutions from concept to production.
- Design, build, and deploy LLM agents integrated with engineering workflows via tool-calling and MCP.
- Ship full-stack internal products: interfaces, data pipelines, and infrastructure from zero to one.
- Design evaluations, measure adoption and impact, and iterate to double down on effective tools.
- Lead special projects with founders to hit critical, time-sensitive milestones.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 1β5+ years shipping software end-to-end, ideally at a fast-moving startup.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills and track record of shipping working products.
- Experience building LLM agents or AI tooling used by real users (including context engineering, tool integration, evals, and failure analysis).
- Ability to use AI and agentic coding tools to ramp quickly on unfamiliar domains.
- Product sense, design taste, attention to detail, and strong ownership (finds and solves root problems).
- Willingness to work in-person in San Jose and handle time-sensitive, business-critical work.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to chip development, kernels, hardware, or manufacturing.
- Infrastructure, data engineering, or DevOps experience.
- Experience with fine-tuning, RAG over proprietary technical data, or multi-agent orchestration.
- Prior startup experience through hypergrowth.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
