Job Title
Intern - Test Solutions Engineer
Role Summary
Work on process development, improvement, and qualification of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) test equipment, software, and manufacturing operations for backend test modules or components. Collaborate with manufacturing, test engineering, process engineering, QA, suppliers, and global teams to deploy and transfer processes into high-volume manufacturing.
The role includes problem solving for equipment and process issues, supporting technology integration, and applying AI-enabled tools and analytics to improve decision making and process outcomes.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; prior hands-on experience in backend equipment maintenance or engineering is beneficial.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include process definition, transfer, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across global sites.
- Coordinate integration and issue resolution between Test Key Equipment Group and manufacturing sites.
- Drive global continuous improvement and transfer of best-known methods (BKMs) into production.
- Manage projects from definition through first-of-kind deployment into high-volume manufacturing.
- Analyze manufacturing processes to improve yield, quality, cycle time, and cost; propose implementable solutions.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, mechanical form/fit/function, and material interface requirements.
- Apply problem-solving methodologies (8D, TPC) and lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop process transfer packages, procedures, training, and documentation for site adoption.
- Leverage Generative AI, LLMs, and AI-assisted analytics to support quality monitoring, trend analysis, and decision support.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience expected for successful performance in this internship.
-
Must-have: Hands-on technical knowledge of backend manufacturing test handler equipment and processes or equivalent practical experience.
-
Must-have: Understanding of equipment mechanical/electrical fundamentals (electronics circuits, infrastructure, mechanical functions) and reliability considerations.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with equipment performance metrics (Utilization/OEE, MTTR, MTBF) and their application to process improvement.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of test process/program languages and equipment communication protocols (SEC/GEMS, GPIB, IS or similar).
-
Must-have: Strong analytical and decision-making skills; proficiency with data-analysis and risk tools such as FMEA, Risk Assessment, and decision-analysis methods.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience (or coursework) in backend equipment maintenance/engineering, process development, or equipment procurement.
-
Nice-to-have: Exposure to project management, global process transfers, and manufacturing qualification processes (POR, CM, FMEA).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI-enabled tools, AI-assisted analytics, or digital engineering tools to automation, reporting, or trend analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of a degree and encourages fresh graduates to apply.
