Intern, Test Engineering

Role Summary

Join the PAT (Probe, Assembly & Test) Operations team supporting Radiation Hardened IC production for space applications. The intern will assist Test Engineers in transferring automated test solutions between test handler platforms for analog/mixed-signal and power-management ICs.

Work is hands-on and 100% onsite at Palm Bay, FL, involving hardware design tasks, software debugging, data analysis, and preparation of production qualification plans.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students currently enrolled in a BS or MS program; no prior professional experience required beyond relevant coursework or lab experience.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include:

  • Support transfer of automated test programs between handler platforms for ATE and pick-and-place test handlers.
  • Design and prototype simple test hardware and fixtures.
  • Write, debug, and validate software modules for test systems (ATE scripts, supporting code).
  • Troubleshoot test setups and resolve hardware/software issues.
  • Collect and analyze test and process data using statistical methods.
  • Develop and document production qualification plans and present them to review boards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams: Product, Reliability, Process, and Test Engineering.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, eligibility, and attributes:

  • Familiarity with manufacturing statistical concepts (mean, std. dev, SPC, CPK, Gage R&R, ANOVA).
  • Programming experience in Python, C/C++, and/or SQL.
  • Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes and bench setups.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; attention to detail and ability to work in teams.
  • US citizenship required due to ITAR restrictions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with JMP or other statistical analysis software.

Education Requirements

Currently working toward a BS or MS in Microelectronic Engineering (MicroE) or Electrical Engineering (EE). No alternative degrees or equivalent-experience language specified.
