Intern - STPG PE Firmware
Role Summary
The firmware engineering intern will develop and validate manufacturing-test firmware for Solid-State Drives within the Storage Technology Product Group, Product Engineering Firmware team at Micron Singapore (MSB).
The project emphasizes firmware feature development, improving test coverage and efficiency, and applying AI tools for code generation, validation, log analysis, and failure investigation.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for current Bachelor’s or Master’s students; full-time commitment for approximately 5 months (Jan–May 2027).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include firmware development, validation, and applying AI-assisted tools in a manufacturing-test context.
- Translate manufacturing-test requirements into firmware designs and test methods.
- Develop and validate firmware features for an SSD test use case using C, C++, or Python.
- Improve firmware validation, test coverage, and test efficiency.
- Apply Generative AI / AI assistants for code generation, review, test automation, and log analysis.
- Analyze manufacturing or product-return data to identify trends and failure modes.
- Produce technical documentation and test reports summarizing methodology and results.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and attributes required for the internship.
- Proficiency in C, C++, or Python and familiarity with firmware or embedded-development workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with debugging and validation methods.
- Good written and verbal communication; ability to document and present findings clearly.
- Ability to commit to the full-time internship period (Jan–May 2027) and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with PCIe or storage interfaces; interest in Generative AI, large language models, or AI-assisted development tools.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
