Intern - Software Engineering (Hardware Verification R&D)

Role Summary

Short-term internship on the Fault Emulation team within Hardware System Verification (HSV) focused on developing functional-safety features for Cadence's Palladium emulation platform.

The intern will implement features, run tests and performance evaluations, and collaborate with Product Engineering, Product Validation, and Application Engineering teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Targeted at current undergraduate students; expected graduation Jan 2028 or Jul 2028 per posting.

Responsibilities

Typical tasks for the role include:

• Develop new product features: write specifications, implement code, create unit and regression tests, and perform static and performance analysis.
• Maintain existing functionality: debug, refactor, and improve performance of current features.
• Participate in code reviews and follow team development practices.
• Collaborate with Application Engineering to support customer deployments and with Product Engineering/Validation to specify and test features.
• Contribute to testing and validation of feature deliveries on the emulation platform.

Requirements

Must-have and role logistics:

• Ability to work on-site in Savassi, Belo Horizonte (Av Contorno area).
• Availability for part-time internship: approximately 20 hours per week.
• Good spoken and written English and Portuguese.
• Ability to collaborate with global, cross-functional teams and follow standard software development workflows.

Nice-to-have (university coursework or project experience):

• Experience with version control systems and basic software development practices.
• Fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Exposure to EDA and VLSI concepts; familiarity with Verilog or VHDL.
• Projects or coursework in C++.
• Interest or experience with scripting languages such as Tcl or Python.

Education Requirements

Ongoing bachelor’s degree (undergraduate) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, expected graduation January 2028 or July 2028; or equivalent practical experience.
