Intern - Silicon Design Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Full-time internship within the Storage Technology and Products Group, focused on silicon design validation for NAND products. The intern will work under supervision to plan and execute validation activities, perform Verilog simulation, collect and analyze silicon measurement data, and prototype scripting or AI-enabled workflows to improve validation efficiency.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Ideal candidate is a student able to commit to a full-time internship of approximately 5 months.

Responsibilities

Project work supervised by experienced engineers; deliver technical outputs and a final report.

• Study an assigned NAND feature or circuit and document its intended function and validation criteria.
• Perform Verilog simulations and analyze expected circuit/feature behavior.
• Develop and execute a validation plan; perform defined measurements using laboratory equipment (testers, oscilloscopes, probe stations).
• Collect, structure, and analyze silicon validation data; generate technical reports using scripts and approved tools.
• Design and implement a prototype script or AI-enabled workflow for automated data collection, report generation, or anomaly detection.
• Produce a final technical report and presentation summarizing methods, results, limitations, and recommendations.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical abilities required or strongly preferred.

• Basic knowledge of digital electronics, semiconductor devices, circuit design, or computer architecture. (Must-have)
• Familiarity with Verilog or another hardware description language. (Must-have)
• Programming or scripting experience in Python, Perl, C, C++, or similar. (Must-have)
• Experience with data analysis and waveform interpretation. (Must-have)
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment (testers, oscilloscopes, probe stations) and measurement techniques is advantageous. (Nice-to-have)
• Exposure to Generative AI, Machine Learning, or large language model workflows for engineering applications is advantageous. (Nice-to-have)
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and teamwork skills. (Must-have)
• Able to commit to a full-time internship period of approximately 5 months. (Must-have)

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
