Role Summary
Short-term internship placements across Arm's UK engineering functions (hardware, software, tools, ML, verification, product security, technical writing and program management). Projects are hands-on and mentored, with durations typically 3, 6 or 12 months depending on role and location.
Positions are based in Arm's UK offices (Cambridge, Bristol, Manchester, Sheffield) and focus on practical contributions to design, validation, modelling, software or program delivery.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Suitable for students and early-career candidates looking for practical engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute to engineering tasks under supervision. Typical responsibilities include:
- Designing or implementing hardware logic, circuits and physical design components.
- Verifying and validating designs through simulation, testing and analysis.
- Modelling system performance and optimizing trade-offs such as speed versus power.
- Developing and optimising machine-learning models and related software.
- Writing firmware, drivers, compilers, or engineering tools.
- Supporting technical programs: planning, data analysis, customer insight and cross-functional coordination.
- Assisting partners and external developers to build with Arm technology.
Requirements
Must-have skills and conditions for applicants:
- Demonstrable practical experience from projects, coursework, labs, research, hackathons or prior internships (e.g., built, tested, analysed or debugged a technical system).
- Programming or engineering tool experience relevant to the role (software, hardware description languages, simulation, ML frameworks, etc.).
- Ability to collaborate in teams and communicate technical work clearly.
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK for the full internship duration; Arm cannot provide visa sponsorship for these roles.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with AI/ML, embedded firmware, compilers, EDA tools or system modelling.
- Previous internship or industry project experience.
Education Requirements
Applicants should be currently enrolled in a college or university degree program and expected to return to their studies after the internship. Relevant fields include Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical subjects.
