Intern – Process Engineer ID1
Role Summary
Support process quality, yield improvement, manufacturing efficiency, and cost reduction in a high-volume DRAM fabrication environment at Micron's Boise manufacturing site. Partner with equipment engineers, process owners, and operations to identify issues and implement data-driven solutions to optimize wafer output.
Apply statistical analysis, engineering principles, and data tools to support continuous improvement and key performance indicators.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree; expected graduation after September 2027.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include process monitoring, data analysis, and cross-functional problem solving.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes to meet yield, quality, throughput, and cost targets.
- Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC), Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), and Design of Experiments (DOE) to identify and resolve process deviations.
- Collaborate with operations, equipment, and engineering teams to address yield loss risks, tool restrictions, defects, and output interruptions.
- Perform data analysis and visualization using engineering and visualization tools to support process optimization and increase wafer output.
- Utilize approved AI and AI-assisted analytics tools where appropriate to enhance process monitoring and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrated capabilities; preferred qualifications noted separately.
- Must-have: Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Must-have: Proficiency in one or more technical tools such as Python, Java, MATLAB, Tableau, or Microsoft Office.
- Must-have: Ability to analyze technical data and make sound engineering decisions in a manufacturing environment.
- Nice-to-have: Experience or coursework in data collection, data cleansing, data warehousing systems, artificial intelligence, or advanced analytics.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with data analytics, database queries, and data visualization techniques.
- Nice-to-have: Working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes, manufacturing equipment, and supporting systems.
- Nice-to-have: Strong written and verbal communication and ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related engineering field; expected graduation after September 2027. (Degree pursuit is required for internship eligibility.)
