Job Title

Intern - MMP pFA Lab

Role Summary

As an intern on the MMP pFA Lab project, you will design and execute controlled experiments using DDR4/DDR5 DIMM cards to evaluate underfill-based depop methods and laser depop techniques. You will work with FA/GEL and external vendors to run trials, analyze results, and deliver technical reports and a final readout with a recommended method.

For application assistance or reasonable accommodations contact hrsupport_my@micron.com.

Experience Level

Internship / Entry-level. Suitable for current students or recent graduates; no specific years of professional experience specified.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include experimental planning, vendor coordination, execution of processing and depop trials, analysis, and documentation.

  • Develop experiment plan and trial matrix covering DIMM selection, target DRAM(s), underfill and perimeter-cut parameters, laser depop conditions, and response variables.
  • Coordinate with vendors to apply SOCAMM-like underfill on targeted DRAMs of DIMM cards.
  • Evaluate a ~90% underfill-depth perimeter cut to create controlled separation boundaries and assess repeatability and impact.
  • Perform or oversee laser-based component depop trials on underfilled DIMM cards and characterize success/failure modes.
  • Define evaluation criteria for successful depop (component condition, pad/land condition, collateral impact, readiness for downstream debug/rework).
  • Collect data, photos/micrographs, and observations; analyze results to support conclusions.
  • Produce vendor evaluation reports, a final internship readout package, and a clear go/no-go recommendation with a best-known method.
  • Coordinate external evaluation logistics for supplier/vendor site work as needed.

Requirements

Must-have skills and capabilities; specific degree information is under Education Requirements.

  • Hands-on laboratory skills with PCBA handling, test execution, and sample preparation.
  • Ability to design controlled experiments, follow test matrices, and maintain accurate records.
  • Data collection and analysis skills, including basic materials/failure analysis techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for technical reporting and presentations.
  • Comfort coordinating with external vendors and cross-functional teams (FA/GEL).
  • Prior coursework or project experience in materials, manufacturing, or electronics testing is beneficial.

Education Requirements

Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Electronics, or Manufacturing Engineering. Degree level not specified.
