Intern - Mask Technology

Role Summary

Join Micron’s Advanced Mask Development Group to support Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) and Resolution Enhancement Techniques (RET) for wafer process development. The role focuses on simulation, data analysis, scripting, and optimization of reticle design to improve semiconductor process windows.

The intern will work on a project integrating AI agents with advanced OPC/RET techniques to automate parts of the RET development flow, collaborating with experienced RET and photolithography engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current students; hands-on project experience and collaboration with engineering teams expected.

Responsibilities

Primary duties involve modeling, automation, analysis, and documentation within the RET/OPC workflow.

  • Study and apply photolithography modeling theory and simulation methodologies.
  • Develop AI workflows and programs for RET/OPC tasks.
  • Create automated scripts/programs to improve methodology efficiency.
  • Analyze results and improve metrics beyond the existing process-of-record.
  • Document Best Known Methods with rationale and supporting data.
  • Collaborate with the Photolithography group and identify improvement opportunities.

Requirements

Must-have skills and core capabilities.

  • Validated analytical skills and experience with simulation tools or methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and contribute to complex projects.
  • Familiarity with photolithography concepts and microfabrication processes.

Nice-to-have:

  • Optics coursework or background.
  • Working knowledge of Claude Code.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl, etc.) and MATLAB.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Engineering or Science. Graduation date must be September 1, 2027 or later.
