Intern - Engineering (ASIC Verification)

Role Summary

Join the Data Center Solutions verification team to develop and validate next-generation data center storage products, including enterprise NVMe SSD controllers and other PCIe-based SoC designs. Work will focus on IP/subsystem and SoC-level verification under mentorship from experienced engineers.

Position is onsite at the San Jose facility. No travel required.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (part-time). Suitable for students or early-career candidates seeking hands-on ASIC verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification, test development, and debugging in an SoC environment.

  • Learn storage-related technologies: ARM, AXI, PCIe, NVMe, DDR, NAND Flash, DMA, encryption.
  • Develop and run verification in a UVM testbench environment.
  • Debug and root-cause failures in SoC simulations and verification runs.
  • Write and run Embedded C test code for target validation.
  • Develop and execute verification scripts using Python, TCL, and Shell.
  • Work under the guidance of a technical lead and collaborate with engineering team members.

Requirements

Technical skills and attributes required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and C programming.
  • Must-have: Scripting skills in TCL, Python, or Shell.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical, programming, debugging, and scripting abilities.
  • Must-have: Good verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with simulation tools, UVM, and SoC verification environments.

Education Requirements

Actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BS). A Master of Science (MS) is preferred. Relevant coursework includes digital design, computer architecture, and C programming.
