Role Summary

Perform research and development in analog and mixed-signal transistor-level circuit design with a focus on Power Management ICs and Smart Power Stages for High-Performance Computing. The intern will join the Performance Computing Power team at the Renesas design center in Catania and work alongside experienced engineers to develop a final graduation thesis.

Six-month on-site internship based in Catania, Italy.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship intended for MSc students completing a final thesis; suitable for candidates with academic circuit-design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform transistor-level design of analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks.
• Evaluate performance trade-offs among different circuit topologies.
• Run process/voltage/temperature (PVT) corners and Monte Carlo simulations and document results.
• Conduct technical reviews and ensure design quality and compliance with specifications.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers and incorporate feedback into designs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and competencies:

• Knowledge of CMOS and bipolar transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors and inductors.
• Basic knowledge of BCD technology.
• Ability to design basic circuit blocks and run PVT corners and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Understanding of voltage/current references, current mirrors, amplifiers, comparators, oscillators/clocking circuits and digital gates.
• Familiarity with feedback control systems, switch-mode power conversion topologies and linear regulators.
• Good written and spoken English and communication skills.
• Familiarity with the Cadence design environment is a plus.

Education Requirements

Enrolled MSc student in Electronic Engineering (final graduation thesis project). The posting specifically targets MSc-level candidates in Electronic Engineering; no other degrees or equivalent-experience language were specified.
