Job Title

Intern - DRAM Technology DTCO & PPA Assessment Engineer

Role Summary

The Design-Technology Co-Optimization (DTCO) team evaluates semiconductor device technology and circuit design to guide DRAM power, performance, and area (PPA) tradeoffs. This internship performs transistor-level simulations, benchmarking, and data analysis to assess emerging DRAM technologies and support technology development decisions.

Work involves using EDA tools, developing automation workflows, and collaborating with device, process, modeling, and circuit design engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for graduate students. No prior professional years-of-experience required; role targets current M.S. or Ph.D. candidates.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include hands-on simulation, analysis, and cross-functional communication.

  • Evaluate emerging DRAM technologies and quantify impacts on future product architectures and design tradeoffs.
  • Perform transistor-level circuit simulations and benchmarking using EDA tools (e.g., HSPICE, FineSim).
  • Develop and apply AI-enabled automation workflows to improve simulation efficiency and engineering productivity.
  • Analyze simulation and experimental data; prepare reports and technical presentations to communicate findings.
  • Collaborate with device engineering, modeling, process integration, and circuit design teams on multi-disciplinary projects.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities for this internship.

  • Knowledge of VLSI design, semiconductor device physics, and CMOS fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with transistor- and circuit-level simulation tools (HSPICE, FineSim, or equivalent EDA platforms).
  • Experience with AI-enabled tools and data analysis methodologies; experience with Claude AI Agents is noted.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Preferred: scripting or programming experience to support automation of simulations and data workflows.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Expected graduation date of Fall 2025 or later. Preferred coursework includes CMOS modeling, advanced semiconductor devices, digital circuit design, or semiconductor process technology.
