Intern - Design Engineer, HBM
Role Summary
As an HBM Memory Design Engineer intern you will design, analyze, and optimize digital, analog, and memory circuits for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) products. You will collaborate with global design, verification, modeling, layout, and product teams to meet performance, manufacturability, and reliability objectives for DRAM-based systems.
You will use industry-standard simulation tools and AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate design analysis and support product development for AI and high-performance computing applications.
Experience Level
Entry-level intern. Targeted at current undergraduate students; no specific prior years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary duties during the internship include circuit design, verification, and cross-functional support through to tape-out.
- Design, analyze, and optimize memory, logic, and analog circuits for HBM products; support layout, validation, and tape-out activities.
- Perform circuit verification, parasitic modeling, and design simulations using industry-standard tools to meet performance and reliability targets.
- Collaborate with layout, CAD, modeling, verification, and multi-functional engineering teams on floor planning, routing, manufacturability, and quality.
- Support Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, and Marketing during product development and production ramps.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools and data-driven workflows to improve design efficiency and accelerate analysis.
Requirements
Essential and preferred technical skills for the internship.
- Must-have: Working knowledge of CMOS circuit design fundamentals and semiconductor device physics.
- Must-have: Experience with schematic entry and circuit simulation tools (e.g., FineSim, HSPICE).
- Must-have: Familiarity with Verilog modeling, simulation environments, power network analysis, and state machine logic.
- Must-have: Experience with scripting languages such as Python, TCL, or Perl and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of DRAM architecture, memory design concepts, and SoC/IO interfaces.
- Nice-to-have: Experience communicating technical concepts, working in fast-paced engineering teams, and using AI agents or generative AI for engineering productivity.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
