Intern - ASIC Digital Design
Role Summary
The ASIC Logic Design Team develops custom silicon for Micron's memory and storage products. As a Digital Design Engineer Intern you will support design and implementation of high-speed digital logic and memory controller IP while collaborating with verification, analog, physical design, and validation teams.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to the ASIC development lifecycle and opportunities to contribute to technical design work under engineer guidance.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; not graduating before August 2027.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Support design and implementation of high-speed digital logic for tester ASICs and memory controller IP.
- Collaborate with Design Verification, Analog Design, Synthesis, Physical Design, and Lab Validation teams.
- Assist with integrating digital designs alongside custom analog circuitry and third-party IP.
- Participate in design reviews and produce technical documentation.
- Present technical concepts and project updates to engineering teams.
- Explore AI-enabled design methodologies, including generative AI and AI-assisted workflows.
- Learn and apply industry-standard design processes and best practices.
Requirements
Must-have skills and abilities:
- Understanding of digital logic design, verification methodologies, and high-speed digital interfaces.
- Experience with programming or scripting (Python, Linux shell, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to analog and mixed-signal concepts (PLLs, DLLs, CDRs, CMOS, or CML).
- Familiarity with synthesis, linting, simulation, formal verification, or implementation tools.
- Previous academic, research, personal, or internship projects related to digital IC design, computer architecture, or semiconductor technologies.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Must be enrolled in a degree program and must not graduate before August 2027.
