Intern - AIPU Board Development
Role Summary
6-month on-site internship within the hardware team supporting development and validation of AIPU (AI Processing Unit) boards. Work closely with hardware and test engineers on electrical characterization, test-bench setup, ancillary card design and general lab operations.
Opportunity to gain hands-on R&D experience with AI hardware in a professional lab environment.
Experience Level
Entry-level intern. 6-month internship; suitable for technical-diploma holders or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Support board bring-up, testing and lab operations:
- Perform electrical measurements (voltage, current, power, signal integrity, timing) using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and DAQ systems.
- Assist in design, assembly and configuration of test benches for board bring-up and validation.
- Collect, organize and analyze performance data to validate board behavior against specifications.
- Contribute to schematic capture and PCB layout for small ancillary/support boards (Altium Designer / KiCad).
- Maintain lab equipment, ensure calibration schedules and keep the workspace organized and safe.
- Track inventory of components, boards and equipment; flag reorder needs.
Requirements
Required technical skills and personal attributes.
- Familiarity with basic electrical/electronic measurement principles and lab instrumentation.
- Exposure to schematic capture and PCB layout tools; experience with Altium Designer or KiCad is a plus.
- Basic understanding of digital and analog electronics.
- Comfortable with Linux and basic scripting.
- Analytical, precise, self-organized and able to manage tasks independently; good team-player.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written); Italian is a plus.
- Role requires on-site presence in Florence, Italy; no visa/work-permit sponsorship is offered.
Education Requirements
Technical diploma (ITS or Perito Elettronico/Elettrotecnico) or equivalent practical experience.
