Interim Engineering Intern - HW
QualcommJob Title
Interim Engineering Intern - HW
Role Summary
Short-term internship supporting hardware engineering teams focused on SoC, ASIC, RF/analog, and mixed-signal development. Work may include validation, RTL work, board/FPGA tasks, and layout or CAD support depending on the assigned team.
The role is based in Bangalore and reports to engineering staff within Qualcomm's hardware groups.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Suitable for current students or recent graduates (Bachelor's or Master's) seeking practical experience in ASIC/SoC or RF/analog hardware engineering.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities depend on the assigned hardware group; examples below reflect common intern tasks.
- Assist in SoC validation and debug, including working with embedded RISC/DSP processors.
- Support RTL design or verification tasks using Verilog/VHDL and testbench code.
- Develop or run software tools and scripts for validation (C/C++, Tcl/Perl/shell).
- Contribute to board bring-up and FPGA prototyping as needed.
- Participate in team debug cycles, document issues, and follow-through on fixes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, verification, CAD, layout) and communicate progress clearly.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviors; education specifics are listed under Education Requirements.
- Experience or coursework with Verilog or VHDL and familiarity with RTL design concepts.
- Programming experience in C/C++; experience with scripting (Tcl, Perl, shell) is expected.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to debug hardware/software interactions.
- Ability to work in teams and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Familiarity with SoC validation concepts and embedded processor-based systems is preferred.
- Specialized (team-dependent): knowledge of wireless/wired communications protocols, graphics/video multimedia, or CAD/layout tools may be required for some assignments.
- For RF/Analog/Mixed-Signal assignments: practical experience with PLLs, LNAs, OpAmps, CMOS ADC/DAC, Cadence/SpectreRF, or layout tools is desirable.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Embedded Systems (VLSI), ECE, or a closely related technical field as listed in the posting.
