Interface IP Applications Engineer, Senior Staff
Role Summary
Senior technical field role supporting customers in Korea to evaluate, select, configure, and integrate Interface IP (SerDes, PCIe, DDR, USB, MIPI, D2D, Ethernet) into SoC designs. Acts as the primary technical liaison between customers, sales, and Synopsys R&D to resolve integration risks and drive IP adoption.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership across customer engagements, IP selection, and integration activities.
- Work directly with customer SoC teams in Korea to gather requirements and recommend appropriate Interface IP solutions.
- Lead technical evaluations, IP selection, configuration, and integration tradeoff analysis (performance, power, area, schedule).
- Drive PHY IP porting and process-node transitions from requirements through technical negotiation and handoff.
- Translate customer issues into engineering requests and coordinate timely resolution with R&D and support teams.
- Support sales in competitive situations by articulating technical differentiation and contributing to proposals.
- Organize and facilitate cross-functional technical forums to align strategy and resolve integration standoffs.
- Monitor technology and market trends (AI, automotive, data center) to inform IP roadmap and field priorities.
Requirements
Key technical and customer-facing qualifications required for the role.
- Hands-on background in ASIC/SoC design and verification with practical knowledge of design flows, integration challenges, and silicon bring-up.
- Technical expertise in at least one major Interface IP domain (SerDes, PCIe, DDR, USB, MIPI, D2D, Ethernet) including protocol and PHY integration requirements.
- Proven experience in customer-facing technical roles (field applications engineering, sales support, or technical consulting) in semiconductor IP, EDA, or SoC services.
- Strong communication skills in Korean and English, written and verbal, with ability to present to engineers and executives.
- Experience working in a matrix organization and driving alignment across sales, engineering, marketing, and program management without direct authority.
- Ability to manage multiple customer projects concurrently and independently diagnose integration issues.
- Nice-to-have: prior program management or project leadership on complex SoC or IP integration efforts across multiple sites or time zones.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience in IC design, verification, or semiconductor IP.
