Job Title

Instrumentation Systems Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and prototype next-generation instrumentation systems for high-speed electronic test, measurement, and automated test equipment using Analog Devices products. Work with cross-functional engineering teams and customers to translate system-level requirements into validated, instrument-grade solutions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical expectation: 10+ years of relevant experience; reduced experience allowances may apply based on advanced degrees (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

The role focuses on system architecture, hands-on prototyping, measurement, and customer-facing technical support.

  • Design, build, characterize, and document proof-of-concept systems for high-speed test and measurement applications.
  • Perform RF/mmWave signal-chain analysis, system-level modeling, and performance evaluation for device and subsystem testing.
  • Develop technical collateral such as application notes, reference designs, and demonstration materials.
  • Validate system-level solutions with detailed modeling and hands-on lab measurements.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, marketing, design, and product teams to derive component-level specifications from system requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Education details are summarized separately in Education Requirements.

  • Deep knowledge of analog and high-speed mixed-signal design fundamentals.
  • Experience with high-speed, RF, and mmWave system design and analysis.
  • Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB and Simulink; experience with Keysight ADS and SystemVue preferred.
  • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.
  • Hands-on use of test and measurement equipment: VNAs, spectrum analyzers, real-time oscilloscopes, signal generators.
  • Familiarity with FPGAs, DSPs, and embedded systems.
  • Ability to produce technical collateral and present demonstrations to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong system-level problem solving and the ability to drive solutions across multidisciplinary teams.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science with 10+ years of relevant experience, or MS or PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience.
