Infrastructure Tool Development Intern - 2027
Role Summary
Join the Silicon Co-Design Group (SCG) to develop automation and tooling for chip bring-up, validation, and characterization. You will build infrastructure to automate test execution, data collection, and results analysis and collaborate with design and software teams to improve test coverage and efficiency.
Opportunity to learn GPU/SoC features and chip validation methods while applying software and automation skills.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship targeted at current Master's students or equivalent early-career candidates.
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Design and implement tools to automate feature validation, data collection, test execution, and results analysis for silicon/platform tests.
- Collaborate with SCG, feature designers, and software teams to gather requirements and ensure qualification coverage.
- Investigate, develop, and integrate AI-based solutions (agents, skills, MCP, etc.) to accelerate workflow automation.
- Create, maintain, and run automated test cases for chip characterization and validation.
- Analyze test results, diagnose issues, and communicate findings to engineering teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test infrastructure and tool reliability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and abilities; followed by useful extras.
- Good system validation knowledge: CPU, memory, GPU, PCIe, and thermal/power control.
- Strong programming skills in Python and at least one statically typed language (C, C++, C#, etc.).
- Working knowledge of AI/ML techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent English, written and verbal.
- Nice-to-have: experience developing automation/diagnosis tools and full-stack development experience.
- Nice-to-have: prior exposure to silicon bring-up, chip characterization, or test infrastructure projects.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a Master’s degree in Microelectronics, Integrated Circuits, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, or a closely related technical field.
