Job Title

Implementation Engineer

Role Summary

The Implementation Engineer will develop and deploy implementation and analysis methodologies for CPU, GPU and SoC IP. The role focuses on synthesis, physical design, timing and implementation flows to improve power, performance and quality of results for Arm IP and partner designs.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical candidates have 3+ years of hands-on experience in ASIC implementation, physical design, STA and timing closure.

Responsibilities

The position combines hands-on implementation work with methodology development and partner enablement.

  • Synthesis, physical design and implementation of CPU/GPU cores, system interconnect and SoC components.
  • Analyze timing, area and power to drive IP quality improvements.
  • Develop and deploy implementation methodologies and automation to improve efficiency and results.
  • Support implementation analysis and data-mining to guide optimization efforts.
  • Work with RTL and physical IP teams to drive analysis and optimization across the design flow.
  • Translate R&D concepts into practical implementation solutions and enable partners to achieve target results.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Proven experience in ASIC implementation, physical design, STA and timing closure; familiarity with structured clock tree, PDN analysis, DFM and physical verification.
  • Practical knowledge of the full IC design flow from RTL through to GDSII and ability to optimize across stages.
  • Programming and scripting skills (examples: Tcl, Perl, R, Make, sh) for automation and flow integration.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, initiative and clear technical communication skills.
  • Experience creating and promoting new silicon implementation techniques and collaborating with international teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Arm-based CPUs and SoC architectures.
  • Experience with low-power design techniques (power gating, voltage/frequency scaling).
  • Experience in Verilog RTL design.
  • Experience with ATPG tools and/or production testing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience accepted.
