IC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
The IC Verification Engineer is responsible for functional verification of block/core/SoC designs. The role focuses on test plan creation, development of scalable and reusable testbenches, building pseudo-random tests, measuring and closing functional coverage gaps, and improving verification quality and efficiency.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 6+ years (Master's) or 8+ years (Bachelor's) of related verification experience, per the job posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on developing verification strategy, test infrastructure, and tests to ensure functional correctness and coverage.
- Develop test plans for block/core/SoC features and define functional coverage goals.
- Architect and implement scalable, reusable verification environments and testbenches using verification methodology frameworks.
- Create pseudo-random and directed tests to achieve full functional coverage.
- Debug regression failures, analyze coverage gaps, and enhance tests to close gaps.
- Document verification strategy, test plans, environment details, and test cases; lead reviews with design and architecture teams.
- Drive process and tool improvements to increase verification quality and efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 6+ years experience writing and debugging complex testbenches and verification environments.
- Deep understanding of verification flow: testbench construction, test plan development, pseudo-random testing, and functional coverage analysis.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and verification methodologies such as UVM, VMM, or OVM.
- Strong command of object-oriented programming principles applied to verification.
- Experience debugging regressions and improving tests based on coverage analysis.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results.
- Nice-to-have: knowledge or experience with PCI Express or other complex multi-layered protocols.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
