IC R&D Product Engineer
Vishay SiliconixJob Title
IC R&D Product Engineer
Role Summary
Product Engineer on the R&D team in Biñan, Laguna responsible for bridging design and manufacturing to deploy next-generation power management ICs. The role leads New Product Introduction (NPI), qualification, characterization, and transfer to high-volume production while ensuring device performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Work involves close collaboration with global design, test, assembly, quality, and operations teams to validate silicon and resolve launch issues.
Experience Level
Entry-level (1–3 years). Fresh graduates with strong academic performance in core electronics/semiconductor subjects are explicitly welcome.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end New Product Introduction activities from early development through mass-production transfer.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (Design, Test, Assembly, Quality, Marketing, Operations) to meet milestones and product release schedules.
- Plan and execute engineering qualification, electrical characterization, and silicon validation to verify performance targets.
- Design and develop burn-in and reliability hardware to support stress and qualification testing.
- Analyze large datasets of product performance to identify manufacturing risks or design gaps and implement CAPA during qualification and safe-launch.
- Drive design-for-manufacturability alignment and support yield-improvement and root-cause investigations during ramp-up.
Requirements
Must-have skills and competencies:
- Practical understanding of semiconductor device physics and basic MOSFET / power-device operation.
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation such as curve tracers, digital oscilloscopes, and Source Measure Units (SMUs) for electrical and thermal validation.
- Familiarity with failure analysis and systematic problem-solving methods (8D, 7 basic QC tools); experience with CAPA workflows.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Exensio) and standard MS Office applications.
- Experience or ability to develop test fixtures, burn-in hardware, and related reliability test setups.
- Working knowledge of PCB layout tools and interpreting board-level impacts on device testing.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills; clear verbal and written communication for global teamwork.
- Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Biñan, Laguna facility.
- Nice-to-have: Six Sigma training or certification; prior NPI, yield improvement, or product characterization experience in semiconductors; domain exposure to MOSFET structures, discrete power electronics, or power management ICs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related technical discipline is stated. Fresh graduates with strong academic records are welcome. Six Sigma training or certification is listed as advantageous.
