IC Power, IR and EM Principal Application Engineer

Role Summary

Lead application engineering for integrated-circuit power integrity, IR drop, electromigration (EM), and thermal analysis. Work with customers and product teams to deliver solutions that enable IR/EM sign-off and chip power-thermal validation.

Contribute to algorithm development, modeling (interconnect, package, die), automation, and customer support within the power integrity engineering team.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include providing technical leadership for power integrity analyses and enabling customers to reach IR/EM sign-off.

• Lead and perform power integrity, IR drop, EM, and thermal analyses for advanced ICs.
• Develop and validate models for interconnect, package, and die behavior.
• Design, implement, and maintain automation and analysis scripts (Python or Tcl).
• Apply numerical methods and graph algorithms to solve analysis and verification problems.
• Work directly with customers to diagnose issues, provide technical guidance, and support sign-off flows.
• Collaborate with product, R&D, and QA teams to integrate solutions into EDA tools and workflows.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

• Deep knowledge of how power, IR, and EM analyses affect chip planning through IR/EM sign-off.
• Fundamental understanding of interconnect modeling, package analysis, and die modeling.
• Proficiency writing and debugging automation code in Python or Tcl.
• Solid grasp of algorithms for numerical analysis and graph problems.
• Familiarity with the EDA and semiconductor industry ecosystem.
• Effective team player with strong communication skills.
