IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement digital IC RTL for Broadcom's Data Center Solutions Group, focusing on PCIe switch and enterprise storage products. Work spans high-level architecture, micro-architecture, RTL implementation and optimization, and silicon validation.

Experience Level

Senior - 12+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver and support high-quality, high-performance RTL and participate in cross-functional activities through silicon validation.

• Analyze architecture specifications and contribute to micro-architecture development and documentation.
• Implement RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog to meet functional, performance, and area targets.
• Address asynchronous clock domain crossings, multiple power domains, low-power design, complex algorithms, deep computations, pipelining, and multi-threaded designs.
• Integrate and validate third-party IP where required.
• Apply RTL optimization strategies to achieve timing closure.
• Perform robust RTL debugging and provide durable RTL solutions.
• Collaborate with Verification, Software/Firmware, Emulation, and Validation teams to resolve design issues.
• Provide lab support as designs move through silicon validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints for the role.

• Proven experience implementing and optimizing RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Strong RTL debugging and timing-closure skills.
• Hands-on experience with CDC, multi-power-domain and low-power design techniques, pipelining, and multi-threaded RTL.
• Experience integrating third-party IP into RTL designs.
• Ability to work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support RTL issues.
• Experience providing lab support for silicon validation.
• Onsite work required; remote work is not permitted.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with PCIe, CXL, AMBA protocols.
• Background in RAID storage designs and PCIe switch designs.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree. 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
