Job Title

IA Core Post Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Perform core-level post-silicon validation and debug for Intel P-Core CPU products used in Xeon server platforms. Work on early system bring-up, validation plan development, feature validation, and identifying and resolving functional issues across hardware and software stacks.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's +6 years, Master's +4 years, or PhD +2 years (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute post-silicon core validation plans and test cases.
  • Perform first-system bring-up and "power-on" of new CPU platforms.
  • Validate CPU features and platform functionality; identify, triage, and debug functional bugs.
  • Create and maintain test generators and validation infrastructure for core-level verification.
  • Use emulation and other validation techniques where appropriate.
  • Contribute to validation architecture and methodologies to improve coverage and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with firmware, silicon, architecture, and system teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Expertise in post-silicon debug and validation of CPU cores.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages: C++, Perl, or Python.
  • Knowledge of CPU architecture and assembly language.
  • Strong debugging skills and experience triaging complex functional issues.
  • Experience developing or using test generators for core-level validation.

Nice-to-have:

  • Machine Check Architecture (MCA) experience.
  • Reliability/Availability/Serviceability (RAS) or Soft Error Rate (SER) background.
  • Emulation experience and chip logical validation methodologies.

Minimum degree and experience combinations stated in the posting: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 4+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years.
