Job Title

HW Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Drive silicon validation for SerDes and other high-speed interfaces across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases for automotive-grade products. Ensure functionality, performance, power, reliability, stability and support automotive qualification.

Work within the validation team and collaborate closely with design, DV, analog, firmware and operations to debug, characterize and qualify silicon for production.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 10+ years of relevant silicon validation experience.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities include planning and executing validation, building test infrastructure, automation and reporting.

  • Develop and implement detailed validation test plans and methodologies to achieve required coverage.
  • Create test cases, test environments and automation scripts (Python) for validation and QA.
  • Use lab instrumentation and tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, traffic generators/analyzers) for characterization and debugging.
  • Collaborate with design, DV, analog and firmware teams to root-cause and resolve issues uncovered during validation.
  • Support bench screening and high-volume ATE functional screening for production.
  • Document test plans, results and validation coverage; communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Develop automation and web-based tools to collect diagnostics data and streamline regression/QA runs.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted separately.

  • 10+ years of silicon validation experience with high-speed networking SerDes and mixed-signal/analog/digital ICs; knowledge of PCS and PMA layers.
  • Hands-on experience debugging and characterizing high-speed interfaces such as CSI-2 and Ethernet.
  • Strong scripting and test automation experience, particularly Python.
  • Experience using lab instrumentation and traffic generators; familiarity with ATE and production screening processes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across design, verification, analog, firmware and operations teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Nice-to-have: GUI development experience for hardware/firmware debug; prior automotive qualification experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (B.S./M.S.).
